Dominica is set to lose a key regional air connection early next year, as Caribbean Airlines has announced it will discontinue flights between Roseau and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective January 10, 2026.
The decision forms part of the airline’s Network Optimization Programme and is expected to impact travelers who rely on the route for seamless links to North America and the wider Caribbean.
The suspended flights include BW 296, which operates Trinidad–Dominica–Puerto Rico, and BW 297, which returns along the same path. Caribbean Airlines confirmed that passengers holding tickets beyond the cutoff date are being contacted directly. Refunds will be issued where applicable.
The Dominica–Puerto Rico withdrawal comes amid a broader reshaping of the airline’s northern network. Caribbean Airlines will also cease operations to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and San Juan entirely, ending services BW 292 (Trinidad–Barbados–Tortola–Puerto Rico) and BW 293 (returning via the same route).
As part of the restructuring, the airline announced further changes beginning February 2026, including a reorganization of its Barbados hub. Aircraft and crew based in Barbados will be repositioned to Trinidad, while flights to and from Barbados will continue under a revised schedule. The airline assured travelers that regional connectivity—particularly within the Northern and Eastern Caribbean—will remain intact.
