The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to 13 480 calls in 2025, highlighting the breadth of emergencies and public assistance needed throughout the year.
According to the SLFS’ end-of-year report, the responses spanned fire emergencies, medical calls, trauma incidents, and non-emergency situations, reflecting the increasingly varied role the service plays in communities across the island.
The overall call volume also represented an increase in demand on the Fire Service. In 2024, the SLFS managed 12 839 emergency calls, with the number rising to 13 480 in 2025, a year-on-year increase of about five per cent.
Medical calls accounted for the largest share of responses, with 6 723 incidents recorded. These included cardiac arrests, respiratory emergencies, and other urgent health situations requiring immediate intervention.
The Fire Service also responded to 3 884 non-emergency calls, including public assistance, minor investigations, and safety inspections. Trauma-related incidents followed closely, with 2 194 calls linked to accidents, falls, and violence-related injuries.
Fire emergencies made up 679 responses for the year. These included house, commercial, and industrial fires, bush fires, vehicle and electrical fires, smoke disturbances, and smoke alarm activations.
Altogether, the figures point to a year marked not only by traditional fire-fighting duties but also by a heavy demand for emergency medical and trauma response, highlighting the SLFS’s role as a critical first responder service.
