The Government has appointed a new board to manage the affairs of the Spicemas Corporation (SMC) from 2026 to 2028.
A notice dated 30 January 2026 in the 6 February 2026 edition of the Government Gazette said that the Cabinet, at its meeting on 22 December 2025, approved the reconstitution of the Board of Directors of the Spicemas Corporation for a period of 2 years, effective 1 January 2026.
The board members are:

- Tessa McQuilkin
- Dale Neptune
- Cecilia Griffith
- Lorenzo Sylvester
- Roy McEwen
- Paul Christopher – Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF)
- Kelvin Jacob – Chief Cultural Officer
- Dwight Logan – Carriacou & Petite Martinique representative
- Grenada Steelpan Association representative
The notice is signed by Desiree Stephen, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, the Creative Economy and Culture. According to the 2011 Spicemas Corporation law, SMC shall be the sole body responsible for operating, organising, managing and promoting carnival within and outside Grenada.
The corporation, among other things shall also “organise, promote, conduct and control the operation and management of carnival either independently or in conjunction with any other company or organisation concerned with the development and promotion of carnival; carry on any form of activity and business related to carnival that may from time to time be approved by the board and make arrangements for the proper and prompt payment of the prize monies for carnival competitions held and organised by the corporation.”
The functions of the corporation shall include “creating adequate sub-committees which shall be responsible for producing carnival shows under the auspices of the corporation; coordinating all of the carnival festivals and activities; developing and implementing marketing strategies for the promotion of carnival; securing financial and other sponsorship for carnival; acting as the coordinating and facilitating body for carnival festivals and activities; and preparing and issuing guidelines for the organisation of and participation in carnival shows.”
