The government has announced several new diplomatic and legislative appointments, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirming changes aimed at expanding the country’s representation overseas and strengthening capacity within Parliament.
Marie-Louise Francis has been appointed Senior Trade, Investment and Diaspora Officer at the Antigua and Barbuda Consulate General in Miami. Government officials indicate that she is expected to assume the post of Consul General in the New Year. Francis is an attorney-at-law who has practiced in the United States.
Zeina Hechme has been named Vice Consul at the Antigua and Barbuda Consulate General in Toronto. Shechme has more than nine years of experience in the Foreign Service, serving as a senior Foreign Service officer.

Former Independent Senator Kiz L. K. Johnson, who recently won the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party primary in St. Philip’s South, has also been appointed to the Senate on the government benches.

The latest appointments come as the administration continues to reorganize its diplomatic corps and adjust its legislative representation. Government officials say the changes are intended to strengthen overseas engagement and ensure continuity within Parliament.
Further announcements are expected as the government continues its review of postings and pending vacancies.
