Twenty students of the T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) were recently afforded the opportunity to explore career pathways in the cruise ship industry during an educational visit aboard the MSC Virtuosa in St George’s.
The onboard career day marked the final Immersive Edutainment Tour for the first quarter of the year under the Tourism Awareness Campaign — a programme of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture.
Accompanied by 2 lecturers, the students, representing the Tourism and Hospitality, Food and Beverage, and Culinary Departments, participated in an informative session where they received insights into various career opportunities at sea, as well as an overview of operations aboard the modern cruise vessel.
Following the session, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the ship, allowing them to experience firsthand the amenities and services offered onboard.
The MSC Virtuosa, a state-of-the-art Meraviglia-Plus class cruise ship operated by MSC Cruises, is renowned for its extensive features, including the LED-domed Galleria Virtuosa, a wide range of dining and entertainment options, advanced technological systems, and world-class recreational facilities.
Earlier tours included visits by students from 4 primary schools to the George Brizan House of Nutmeg and the Tri-Island Chocolate Factory, both in Beaulieu, while students from 4 secondary schools toured the Coyaba Beach Resort.
The edutainment tours are designed to foster greater tourism awareness among children and young people, while providing valuable exposure to Grenada’s tourism sector, including its hotel and cruise industries, attractions, and related products and services.
